3.5.3. Belt tensioning

Motors on piston compressors are normally located on a sliding plate for belt tensioning. The plate is fitted with a threaded central spindle which together with parallel guides ensure accurate alignment of the drive belts across the pulleys.

BOGE screw compressors are equipped with the patented BOGE-GM-drive system. This takes account of different belt tension forces caused by motor weight, start-up torque and running torque, and ensures that compressors have constant belt tension in every operating stage, without the need for retensioning and alignment on belt change.
