The pressure drop Dp is the difference in pressure before and after the filter caused by flow. The pressure drop Dp in the filter grows with time as particles of dust and dirt are collected in the filter element.
    • Dp0 is the pressure drop for new filter elements. It is between 0,02 and 0,2 bar, depending on the type of filter.
    • The economically acceptable limit for pressure drop Dp is around 0,6 bar.

Devices that measure the pressure difference are installed in most filters.

If the pressure drop Dp exceeds the limit, either the filter must be cleaned or the element replaced.
