9.1.6.1. Division into test groups

<BR>Compressed air receivers are divided into test groups as specified in § 8 of pressure receiver rules.

( 1 ) The compressed air receivers are divided into groups according to their maximum operating pressure p in bar and the content of the pressure chamber l in litres ( the pressure content product p x l ). If there are several separate pressure chambers, the product is to be defined separately for each
chamber:

Fig. 9.3: Diagram showing group division of compressed air receivers
Group I : Compressed air receivers with a maximum operating pressure p of no more than 25 bar and a pressure content product p x l of no more than 200.

Group III : Compressed air receivers with a maximum operating pressure p of no more than 1bar on which the pressure content product p x l is more than 200 but no greater than 1000 ( p > 1 bar and 200 < p x l < 1000 ).

Group IV : Compressed air receivers with a maximum operating pressure p of more than 1bar on which the pressure content product p x l is more than 1000 ( p > 1 bar and p x l > 1000 ).
