| Sound pressure is the periodic pressure deviation (over and under pressure and alternating pressure ) that occurs in a sound wave. It is measured in Pa (10 -5 bar ).
In gaseous media sound pressure is superimposed over the existing gas pressure p. Sound pressure is heavily dependent on various factors e.g., the sound output of the source, the spatial circumstances etc.
Sound pressure moves between approx. 2 x 10 -4 Pa with the
ticking of a clock and approx. 65 Pa with the start of an aircraft
in the direct vicinity. |
